Under the general direction of nursing leadership, the Clinical Supervisor RN serves as a clinical resource and unit expert for staff. This role links nursing leadership with nursing care through the application of organizational policies, procedures, and care delivery model. The Clinical Supervisor RN uses the Code of Ethics for Nurses with Interpretive Statements to guide leadership and practice, maintaining knowledge and competence reflective of current nursing practice, promoting innovation and evidence‑based practice.
Responsibilities- (40%) Assess staff competency, serve as liaison to facilitate unit competency completion, act as a resource/role model, develop collaborative relationships, assist in process improvement, support teamwork, and complete annual performance reviews.
- (20%) Complete focused rounding on all patients in the infusion center, participate in direct patient care, ensure best practices, and promote multidisciplinary rounding.
- (20%) Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other providers to assist in care delivery, recommend progression of care plans, and aid in patient experience and quality initiatives.
- (10%) Serve as a clinical resource for staff, patients, and families; provide education; audit documentation; and promote a culture of safety and zero harm.
- (10%) Provide timely patient status reports to manager/shift administrator, maintain open communication, delegate appropriately, and make sound judgments.
Demonstrate knowledge of best practices in specialty care, complete all required training, maintain process improvement programs, act on audit recommendations, develop standards of care, supervise nursing care, contribute to job performance reviews, set performance goals, and ensure compliance with all regulations (Joint Commission, CMS, MDPH).
Certifications and Licensures- Basic Life Support (BLS) – required; completion within 1 month of hire.
- Registered Nurse (RN) – required.
Associate’s Degree in Nursing required;
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing preferred.
Minimum 3 years of nursing experience in a Medical Center; at least 1 year of leadership/supervision experience (charge nurse, project implementation, shared governance). Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Windows. Willingness to engage in continuing education.
Physical/Mental RequirementsExposure to stressful situations, public contact, trauma, grief, death. Must wear PPE, move freely, sit/stand/walk for long periods, and handle blood borne pathogens. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Physical demand level:
