Summary
Up to $14,000 sign‑on bonus for qualified candidates. The Registered Nurse (RN) functions primarily in direct patient care, demonstrating competent clinical practice. This position triages patients, obtains patient history and vital signs, and assesses patients. The RN acts independently to initiate immediate care in the absence of a physician in life‑threatening situations, provides care for the acutely ill as well as non‑acute patients, performs procedures using complex and simple nursing skills, and assists the physician with procedures.
The RN also provides comfort, both physical and psychological, to the patient, their family, and visitors, gives discharge and follow‑up instructions, answers ambulance radios, gives pre‑hospital orders, works with sophisticated equipment, and handles a diverse patient population in a frequently stressful environment.
- Perform nursing assessments, intervene appropriately and promptly, and participate in care planning. (25%)
- Regularly assess patient/client needs and provide skilled nursing services as prescribed by the physician’s authorized plan of care and accepted standards of nursing practice. (25%)
- Process physician/provider orders accurately, completely, and in a timely manner, and follow up regarding medication changes and order clarifications. (20%)
- Evaluate effectiveness of treatment plan and make suggestions or facilitate changes to improve patient care. (15%)
- Actively participate in updating/revising the treatment plan in collaboration with other team members, utilizing current information. (15%)
- Use physical assessment techniques (auscultation, percussion, palpation, observation) to identify patient physical problems and their care needs.
- Recognize self‑limitations and seek appropriate resources.
- Possess clinical competence in airway management, cardiac monitoring, IV therapy, blood gas analysis, venipuncture, and physical assessment.
- Reassess patient health status and identify significant changes in condition.
- Individualize plan of care.
- Coordinate prescribed plans with orders on the health care team.
- Communicate pertinent aspects of care to patient, family, or other health care workers.
- Initiate home health referrals when appropriate.
- Set priorities and implement nursing measures that correlate with identified plan and standard of care.
- Recognize changes in patient condition and take action to manage, reduce, or eliminate symptoms and promote comfort.
- Demonstrate respect for patient dignity and privacy.
- Document nursing intervention and patient response.
- Maintain a safe patient environment and take actions to prevent risk situations.
- Educate patient/family, explain procedures, utilize educational materials, and document instructions given to family.
- Maintain effective interpersonal skills with customers.
- Assist peers in patient care activities.
- Recognize stress in others and use positive coping techniques.
- Accountably follow medical center policy, procedures, and attendance requirements.

Knowledge of nursing skills normally acquired through 2 years of experience working in the medical center or similar setting. Mandatory tuberculosis (TB) testing and mandatory OSHA training annually according to the Exposure Control Plan.
