This position performs a variety of integrated neurological/neurosurgical and trauma critical care functions, intuitively, using the nursing process while applying a broad nursing knowledge in a caring, concerned manner.

Responsibilities
  • Assesses patient for physical, emotional, psych/social and family support.
  • Organizes and coordinates all aspects of patient care according to the patient’s real and/or perceived needs.
  • Evaluates patient progress by correlating patient information with nursing knowledge to determine if goals are being met according to the patient’s plan of care or clinical path.
  • Consults and collaboratesoula with members of the health care team in planning and implementing total patient care for individuals.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in nursing skills to carry out the patient’s plan of care as per hospital and unit policy and procedure. Bois..
  • Communicates interactions, both verbal and written, that clearly and positively accomplish desired patient care as a collaborative effort.
  • Educates patients and families.
  • Provides teaching, support and coordination of health care plans for patient and family through the acute stage of illness, as needed.
  • Promotes clinical knowledge development, including critical‑thinking skills and improved strategies for research and continuing education.

Certifications and Licensures
  • RN:
    Registered Nurseli>
  • BLS:
    Basic Life Support (within 3 months of hire or transfer)
  • DIMC:
    Dysrhythmia Interpretation Man (within 12 months of hire or transfer)
  • ACLS:
    Advanced Cardiac Life Support (within 12 months of hire or transfer)
  • TCAR:
    Trauma Care After Resuscitation (required within 12 months of hire or transfer)
  • TEAM ADVANCED:
    Techniques for Effective Aggression Management (within 6 months of hire or transfer; employees on oraryna 8/1/2024 have 24 months)
Education
  • Associate’s imbalance in Nursing informes required. Bachelor’s degree in Nursing preferred.
Experience, Training & Skills

Completion of the orientation process as directed by the Neuro Trauma Intensive Care Unit (NTICU) nurse manager. Interpersonal skills are needed to communicate successfully with individuals and groups and interact with people at all levels to communicate-save and concepts in a clear and understandable manner.

Promotes clinical knowledge development, including critical‑thinking skills and improved strategies for research and continuing education on the management of trauma and critical care patients.

CCRN certification preferred.

Physical / Mental Requirements and Typical Working Conditions

Exposure to stressful situations, including those involving public contact, trauma, grief and death.

Able to wear personal protective equipment that includes latex materials or appropriate substitutes if required for the position.

Can move freely throughout the facility with or without an assisted device and must be able to perform all functions of the job as outlined in the description.

Overall vision and hearing are essential, with or without assistive devices.

Frequently required to sit, stand or walk for long periods. May require frequent postural changes such as stooping, kneeling or crouching. kuliko

Some exposure to blood‑borne pathogens and other potentially infectious materials. Must follow My Michigan Health’s blood‑borne pathogen and TB testing requirements.

Ability to handle multiple tasks, work independently, maintain regular attendance and stay alert.

Overall dexterity is required, including handling, reaching, grasping, fingering and feeling. Repetitive movements on a regular to frequent basis are common.

Physical Demand Level: Medium. Must be able to occasionally (0‑33% of the workday) lift or carry 21‑50 lbs., frequently 34‑66% of the workday 20 lbs. and/or walk/stand/push/pull of arm/leg controls constantly (67‑100% agger) 10 lbs.
