Job Summary

Saginaw Township Community Schools are seeking a dedicated and responsible individual to join our team as a Lifeguard at Sherwood Elementary School. This part‑time position involves ensuring the safety of all students and staff during swim activities, maintaining a safe and clean environment, and providing excellent customer service. The ideal candidate will possess strong swimming skills, a commitment to safety, and the ability to respond effectively in emergency situations.

• Monitor the swimming area to ensure the safety of all participants.
• Enforce pool rules and regulations to maintain a safe environment.
• Provide immediate assistance and first aid in case of emergencies.
• Conduct regular safety checks of the pool area and equipment.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the pool and surrounding areas.
• Communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents regarding safety protocols.
• Attend all required training sessions and staff meetings.
• Assist in teaching swim lessons as needed.
• Report any incidents or safety concerns to the supervisor promptly.

• Red Cross Lifeguard Certification.
• Red Cross CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer certification.
• Red Cross First Aid for the Professional Rescuer Certification.
• Strong swimming skills and knowledge of water safety practices.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to remain calm and make quick decisions in emergency situations.
• Previous experience as a lifeguard or in a similar role is preferred but not required.
• Must be at least 16 years of age.

Shifts vary Monday through Friday, with the pool opening at 4:45 pm to 8 pm at the Sherwood Pool.
