OSSTF-ESSP DESIGNATED EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATOR PERMANENT POSITION

The Avon Maitland District School Board is currently accepting applications for a permanent Designated Early Childhood Educator position at Hullet Central Public School.
Hours of Work: 35 hours per week, 10 months per year
Rate of Pay: $26.80 - $33.80 per hour plus 4% vacation pay as outlined in the OSSTF-ESSP Collective Agreement as of September 1, 2025.
Start Date: September 1, 2026

Under the direction of the Principal, the Designated Early Childhood Educator (DECE) will work in collaboration with the classroom teacher to plan and provide an effective program and environment to support enhanced learning and cognitive, physical, emotional and social development for Kindergarten students in a full day of Kindergarten.
Ideal Candidates Will Possess:- Minimum two-year community college Early Childhood Education diploma;
- Proof of current registration with the Ontario College of Early Childhood Educators;
- Recent experience as an ECE working in an Early Learning Centre or Day Care;
- Experience planning and implementing age appropriate programs;
- Knowledge of the Ministry of Education Kindergarten Program and related legislation;
- Ability to communicate effectively in a sensitive and courteous manner with children, parents, staff and the general public;
- Understanding and commitment to confidentiality;
- Demonstrated knowledge of effective classroom management and ability to deal with difficult situations and to take appropriate action, according to policies and procedures;
- Basic computer skills, strong organizational and time management skills and ability to meet deadlines; and
- Basic understanding of food handling procedures.
Note - A criminal background check will be part of the recruitment process.
