Summary:

Our organization is embarking on a critical infrastructure modernization initiative to enhance efficiency, reduce operating costs, and improve system resilience. We are seeking an exceptional Senior P2V (Physical to Virtual) Migration Specialist to architect and lead the consolidation of our 50-server physical fleet. This is a high-impact role that requires a meticulous, strategic approach and a proven track record of successful, large-scale migrations.

The ideal candidate will thrive on complex challenges and possess an unwavering commitment to achieving zero data loss and minimal downtime.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Project Leadership: Own and lead the entire migration lifecycle from initial discovery to post-migration validation.
  • Discovery & Analysis: Conduct a comprehensive discovery phase, meticulously mapping all dependencies between legacy servers, applications, and services.
  • Strategic Planning: Develop a detailed, phased migration plan that includes a robust risk management framework and a clearly defined, executable rollback procedure to ensure business continuity.
  • Execution & Validation: Execute the P2V migration during non-business hours, leveraging industry-standard tools like VMware Converter, Hyper‑V, or other specialized platforms.
  • Technical Reporting: Prepare and present key project documentation, including pre‑migration assessment, risk & rollback plans, and post‑migration validation reports.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for project updates, risks, and milestones, ensuring all stakeholders are well‑informed and aligned.
  • Comprehensive Pre‑Migration Assessment: A detailed report on the health, dependencies, and readiness of each physical server.
  • Detailed Risk Management & Rollback Plan: A step‑by‑step procedure for issue resolution and complete reversion to the physical environment if necessary.
  • Final Post‑Migration Validation Report: A conclusive document confirming the successful migration and the validated functionality of all virtual servers and their applications.
Required Skills &

Qualifications:
  • Experience: 5+ years of demonstrable experience leading and executing complex P2V migration projects of a similar scale (20+ servers).
  • Technical Proficiency: Expert‑level knowledge of server virtualization platforms, including VMware vSphere, Hyper‑V, and related tools.
  • Infrastructure Acumen: Strong understanding of server hardware, operating systems, networking (TCP/IP), and storage technologies (SAN/NAS).
  • Project Management: Proven ability to create and manage detailed project plans, timelines, and budgets.
  • Risk Mitigation: Exceptional problem‑solving skills and experience developing comprehensive risk management and disaster recovery strategies.
  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous and detail‑oriented approach to ensure data integrity and system stability.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
