Réalis has a large, experienced hydropower team (more than 350 employees), with engineers and technicians located across Canada, with the largest teams in Vancouver and Montreal. The team’s areas of expertise include geotechnics and geology, civil and structural engineering, hydrology and hydraulics, as well as mechanical and electrical engineering.

Réalis is looking for a Chief Resident Engineer to lead and coordinate on-site engineering activities for a hydroelectric modernization project in Alma. The successful candidate will act as the primary interface between the site and the Montreal-based engineering team, ensuring strong communication, technical alignment, and effective support to construction activities. This individual will bring extensive experience and leadership to guide the resident engineering team and support the client in decision-making.

Your role

Lead and supervise a team of resident engineers (junior and intermediate) on site.

Provide mentorship and coaching to the resident engineering team to support their technical development and performance.

Ensure daily technical coordination of on-site engineering activities.

Act as the main liaison between the construction site and the design engineering team (Montreal).

Support the resolution of technical issues related to engineering and construction.

Review and validate technical solutions to ensure compliance with project requirements.

Participate in coordination meetings with clients, contractors, and key stakeholders.

Monitor technical issues, non-conformities, and change requests.

Ensure alignment and communication across multiple engineering disciplines.

Contribute to maintaining quality, schedule, and safety objectives for the project.

Support the construction team by ensuring the use of the latest revisions of drawings, specifications, and technical documents.

About You

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Mechanical.

Member of, or eligible for registration with, the Ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ).

Minimum of 15 years of experience, including significant exposure to multidisciplinary engineering on construction projects.

Experience in hydroelectric power plants and/or industrial facilities (asset).

Demonstrated experience leading and coordinating technical teams on major projects.

Strong understanding of construction practices, codes, and standards.

Excellent communication, leadership, and coordination skills.

Proficient in French (spoken and written) and English (spoken).

This position requires knowledge of a language other than French, namely English, as it involves collaboration with members of the Canadian or global leadership team located outside Québec.
