Aerothermal Design Engineer
The Aerothermal Design Engineer plays a key role that involves designing and validating turbo machinery components and the gas path, ensuring performance, reliability, and compliance with industry standards. He/she will work on components such as compressors, volutes, turbines, combustors, recuperators, and connectors, while collaborating closely with the Performance and Mechanical teams.
Duties/Responsibilities
(include but are not limited to the following:)
Design and validate aerothermal components of turbo machinery (compressors, volutes, turbines, etc.).
Perform CFD analyses and thermo-structural modeling.
Develop analytical models to assess leakage, thrust balancing, bearing loads, and more.
Execute 2D/3D aerodynamic design of impellers, volutes, and other parts.
Specify performance requirements for new products.
Interpret analytical, CFD, and test data to improve designs and troubleshoot issues.
Collaborate with the mechanical team on new component design and analysis.
Prepare technical reports, memos, and presentations.
Required Skills/Abilities
Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
Minimum 3 years of experience in turbo machinery design and development (or 5 years with a Master’s degree).
Expertise in thermodynamics, aerodynamics, and heat transfer.
Proficiency with ANSYS tools (CFX, Blade Gen, Turbo Grid) and Solid Works.
Strong understanding of design best practices and sound engineering judgment.
Excellent communication and technical writing skills.
Experience with ANSYS Mechanical.
In-depth knowledge of turbo machinery components.
Good knowledge of English (written and spoken) and advanced knowledge of French.
