As a correctional services agent, the holder of the position performs supervisory and support roles for incarcerated individuals with a respectful approach. Working with a team of professionals, the agent’s daily activities align with the values and directions of correctional services while supporting the reintegration of inmates.
- Intervene with incarcerated persons to enforce facility laws and maintain order and discipline in their area of responsibility.
- Interact with inmates individually or in groups to provide prevention, information, education, and support for their correctional journey.
- Carry out operational or administrative tasks that enable clients to access their entitled services while ensuring safety of people and the facility.
- Apply appropriate safety measures in individual crisis, group disorder, or emergency situations, respecting the force usage framework.
The agent may be required to work various shifts (day, evening, night) and weekends/holidays as facilities operate 24/7. Overtime may be required.
RemunerationSalary:
54 038 $ to 74 096 $* (based on a 40‑hour workweek).
- This scale comes from the collective agreement 2020‑2023 effective as of 24 May 2022.
Night, evening, and weekend premiums are paid per the schedule. An 8 % retention allowance for workers in Sept‑Îles, and a 4 % attraction and retention premium apply as per collective agreement.

- For part‑time permanent jobs: guaranteed average of 32 hours/week, a 21‑day cycle schedule with 1 weekend off every three weeks, and option to work regular hours during extended staff absences.

Minimum educational requirement: high‑school diploma equivalent to 11th grade or 5th secondary recognized by competent authority, or equivalence certificate recognized by authority.
- Less than 11th grade: each missing year can be compensated by two years of paid or unpaid work experience (including family workload) or by a comparable academic level.
- Advanced postsecondary: two years of study in relevant knowledge and skills, or currently completing the second year.
Foreign evaluation required for studies outside Canada. French proficiency appropriate for the role is required. Canadian citizenship or permanent residence status or eligible work permit is mandatory.
Conditions to qualify- Successful medical exam within the year preceding appointment.
- No criminal convictions as defined by the Criminal Code.
- Successful security investigation.
- Completion of nine‑week training at CFPC (five weeks at Leclerc‑de‑Laval, three weeks at selected facility, and one week of induction) paid at minimum wage.
