Forward Deployed AI Engineer
About the Role This is a forward-deployed engineering role where you embed directly with founders and the team to identify real business needs and ship AI solutions quickly. You will act as part engineer, solutions architect, and builder‑who‑talks‑to‑humans, with high autonomy and a bias toward shipping useful software over slow perfection.
Key Responsibilities Build and orchestrate AI agents that automate work across engineering, operations, and marketing.
Create personalized, AI‑driven experiences for customers, building systems that understand context and respond helpfully.
Turn data and signals into actionable systems that improve customer experiences and marketing effectiveness.
Develop internal tools that give a small team outsized leverage.
Work directly with founders to diagnose needs and deliver working solutions without detailed specs.
Required Qualifications Mindset Forward‑deployed instincts: diagnose non‑technical stakeholder needs and convert them into productive software quickly.
Strong communication: explain technical work clearly to non‑engineers.
Bias toward shipping: prioritize working software over perfect software, knowing when each is appropriate.
Self‑direction: thrive with autonomy and ambiguity rather than tightly defined tasks.
Core Engineering Strong Python skills and solid full‑stack fundamentals, comfortable with backend logic, data, and functional frontend work.
Solid engineering discipline: TDD, clean Git workflows, and building quality gates.
Comfortable with shell and Type Script/Node when tooling requires it; not required to be an expert.
Data fundamentals: model data well, integrate with third‑party APIs, and measure impact.
AI / LLM Hands‑on LLM experience: prompting, retrieval (RAG), output evaluation, and handling non‑deterministic systems.
Agentic experience: built or operated multi‑agent systems, understanding orchestration, tool/function calling, and review/evaluation loops.
Fluency with AI‑assisted development tools such as Claude Code, and know how to extract high‑quality output.
Judgment Care around sensitive, emotional conversations; implement guardrails, scope limits, escalation paths, and clear boundaries for customer interactions.
Respect for personal data: manage consent, data minimization, secure storage, and CCPA compliance.
Nice to Have Previous forward‑deployed, solutions‑engineering, founder, or consulting experience.
Conversational or voice AI experience (TTS/STT, low‑latency streaming).
Background in DTC e‑commerce, subscriptions, or performance marketing.
Familiarity with agentic frameworks (Lang Graph, CrewAI, Auto Gen, etc.) and the Agent Skills pattern.
Experience in recommendation or personalization systems.
Portfolio of shipped products, repositories, demos, or AI projects.
