Purpose of RoleReporting to the Environmental Superintendent, the Environmental Scientist will provide technical support and guidance to the construction and operating teams through preparation of compliance reports and Environmental Management System protocols. This position ensures compliance with regulatory and permit requirements through data review and tracking, conducting field inspections and coordinating with site personnel.
Role Accountabilities- Assists in the development of field procedures and site plans for chemical and waste management.
- Review contractor proposals to ensure alignment with standard operating procedures.
- Reviews new chemical products prior to site approval.
- Works with the Project team to ensure construction activities comply with environmental plans, policies, permits, etc.
- Coordinates planning, project execution and data analysis for environmental scientific studies in collaboration with senior staff.
- Maintains records, prepares reports, composes correspondence and performs other administrative activities as necessary to meet compliance requirements.
- Conducts field inspections related to construction or other engineering activities and coordinates with employees, contractors, consultants, and other teams.
- Leads the installation, operation and maintenance activities associated with scientific equipment.
- Bachelor of Science degree in environmental science, chemistry, geology, natural resources, or other scientific degree.
- Advanced level of Microsoft Excel and MS Office.
- 2 to 3 years of experience in environmental‑related field preferred.
- Experience with ArcGIS Pro software a plus.
- Ability to work effectively, with limited supervision, with a diverse group of professionals in a collaborative work environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to communicate to all levels confidently and effectively within the company.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to walk off of established trails and roads including over rough, uneven and steep terrain. The employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to kneel, crouch, and sit; use hands to handle sampling equipment and tie sample bags; and reach with hands and arms.
The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities may be required for this position.

The work environment will be nearly exclusively outside and weather conditions such as hot or cold, windy, and very dry to wet conditions. Work will be conducted off established roads and trails on a variety of terrain.
