Maintenance Engineer II – FT (7am – 3:30pm)
Join Northwest Healthcare Tucson as a full‑time Maintenance Engineer II to support the Building Operations department at Northwest Sahuarita Hospital and Northwest Houghton Hospital.
Work hours:
Monday‑Friday, 7:00 am – 3:30 pm. Overtime or on‑call duty may be required depending on projects and emergencies.

The Maintenance Engineer II ensures the functionality, safety, and compliance of healthcare facility systems and equipment by performing advanced maintenance tasks, repairs, and installations. The role requires expertise in troubleshooting and maintaining mechanical, electrical, and/or plumbing systems, as well as hospital‑specific equipment. The Engineer responds to urgent issues and may supervise entry‑level engineers.
Essential Functions- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and/or plumbing systems, and hospital‑specific equipment.
- Respond promptly to work requests, trouble calls, and pages.
- Ensure all maintenance activities meet safety regulations and hospital standards (OSHA, NFPA, Joint Commission).
- Address urgent repair requests, minimizing disruptions to operations.
- Conduct regular inspections and maintain building and infrastructure condition.
- Keep accurate records of maintenance activities, work orders, and equipment performance for management reporting.
- Assist with budget management, and track and order necessary maintenance supplies and parts.
- Maintain detailed logs of maintenance work, service reports, and equipment status for oversight.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
- Comply with all policies and standards.
- Associate Degree or formal training in facility maintenance, mechanical systems, or a related field (preferred).
- 2–4 years of experience in facilities maintenance, engineering, or related roles (required).
- 3–5 years of experience in a hospital or healthcare setting (preferred).
Skills and Abilities
- Strong knowledge of building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, medical gas systems).
- Proficient troubleshooting and repair techniques.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
- Strong problem‑solving and critical‑thinking skills.
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with staff, vendors, and contractors.
- Ability to operate high‑pressure boilers, emergency generators, and fire alarm panes in emergencies.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Licensed steam boiler and refrigeration (within the first 6 months, if applicable).
- Licensed maintenance electrician, certified HVAC technician, or licensed plumber required.
- Georgia: CPI – Nonviolent Crisis Prevention & Intervention Training certification required.
