NMC is currently recruiting a Speech Language Pathologist in Rehabilitation Services. The position is per diem (varied hours bi-weekly), generally M-F 7a-5:30p. Hourly Range: $32.12 USD to $43.38 USD

JOB SUMMARY

The Speech Language Pathologist provides speech language pathology services to patients in varying states of health and illness. Functions as an essential member of the therapy and multi-disciplinary teams providing direct patient care. Provides evaluation and treatment of the areas of communication, cognition and swallowing.

PRE-REQUISITES

Education: Master’s Degree in Speech Language Pathology. SLP has completed Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY).

Experience: Prior experienced preferred.

Certifications: SLP has or is working towards current Certification of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech Language Hearing Association. SLP must be licensed by the Vermont Department of Education.

RELATIONSHIPS

Reports To: Clinical Practice Manager/Director

Other Contacts: Patients, families, visitors, providers and their staff, business partners and hospital employees

SCOPE

Machinery or Equipment Used: Formal and informal speech language and swallowing evaluation Instructional materials; and other patient materials.

Physical Demands

Extended periods of standing and sitting. Ability to assist positioning patients for testing and treatment Manual dexterity and mobility. Moderate amounts of keyboarding.

Working Conditions

May be exposed to infections, contagious disease and the risk of blood-borne diseases, occasional exposure to unpleasant patient and unit elements. May be subject to electrical and radiant energy hazards. Contact with patients under a wide variety of circumstances, including but not limited to accidents, injuries and illness. Subject to varying and unpredictable situations. Occasional pressure due to multiple calls and inquiries.

Required

Protective Equipment

Eye protection, mask, gown, lab coat, non-sterile and sterile medical gloves, leaded radiation apron and gloves.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Performs thorough, reliable and efficient speech therapy evaluations and re-evaluations and develops and implements appropriate treatment programs based on findings within NMC and ASHA standards of care.

2. Provides exceptional patient care to our community within NMC & ASLHA standards of care evidenced by:

  • Flexibility in schedule to meet the needs of our patients
  • Adapts information for diverse populations and environment
  • Advocates for needs of patients
  • Provides care in ethical and legal manner
  • Refers concerns/issues to appropriate resources
  • Protects confidentiality of patients Communicates with patients, team members, and management in an accurate and timely manner
  • Completes timely clinical documentation/order entry
  • Complies and follow all payer guidelines/limitations
  • Outcome measures demonstrating patients are making statistically significant/meaningful progress

4. Applies critical thinking skills and considers alternatives as evidenced by:
