Hourly Range: $32.12 USD to $43.38 USD
Job SummaryThe Speech Language Pathologist provides speech language pathology services to patients in varying states of health and illness. Functions as an essential member of the therapy and multi‑disciplinary teams providing direct patient care. Provides evaluation and treatment of the areas of communication, cognition and swallowing.
Pre‑requisites- Education:
Master’s Degree in Speech Language Pathology, completion of Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY). - Experience:
Prior experience preferred. - Certifications:
Current Certification of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech Language Hearing Association or working toward it; licensed by the Vermont Department of Education.

Patients, families, visitors, providers and their staff, business partners and hospital employees
- Machinery or Equipment Used:
Formal and informal speech language and swallowing evaluation materials; instructional materials; other patient materials. - Physical Demands:
Extended periods of standing and sitting; assistance with positioning patients; manual dexterity and mobility; moderate keyboarding. - Working Conditions:
Possible exposure to infections, contagious disease, blood‑borne diseases, electrical and radiant energy hazards; contact with patients under a wide variety of circumstances; unpredictable situations; occasional pressure from multiple calls. - Protective Equipment
Required:
Eye protection, mask, gown, lab coat, non‑sterile and sterile medical gloves, leaded radiation apron and gloves.
- Performs thorough, reliable and efficient speech therapy evaluations and re‑evaluations and develops and implements appropriate treatment programs based on findings within NMC and ASHA standards of care.
- Provides exceptional patient care within NMC & ASHA standards of care.
- Flexibility in schedule to meet patient needs.
- Adapts information for diverse populations and environment.
- Advocates for needs of patients.
- Provides care in an ethical and legal manner.
- Refers concerns/issues to appropriate resources.
- Protects confidentiality of patients.
- Communicates with patients, team members, and management in an accurate and timely manner.
- Meets documentation standards: completes timely clinical documentation/order entry; complies with payer guidelines/limitations; demonstrates statistically significant/meaningful progress through outcome measures.
- Applies critical thinking: organizes multi‑task workload; prioritizes tasks; seeks assistance; collects/integrates data from multiple sources.
- Committed to ongoing learning and practice of evidence‑based medicine: demonstrates compliance with Rehab Services standards of care (chart audits, yearly reviews); stays up‑to‑date on best practices.
- Incorporates teaching in delivery service: provides appropriate information to patient; assesses barriers to learning; uses colleagues as learning resources; supports preceptorship program.
- Manages self and resources: acknowledges limits of experience; identifies learning needs; seeks resources; utilizes equipment and supplies; maintains clean environment; ensures traffic control in sensitive areas; seeks feedback; requests assistance appropriately.
