Operating Room Aide – Full Time (8a – 4:30p)
Northwestern Medical Center is recruiting an Operating Room Aide to support our surgical team. The role is full‑time (80 hours bi‑weekly), generally Monday‑Friday, 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Hiring range: $17,500 – $24,880 USD.
Job SummaryThe Operating Room Aide is an integral part of the healthcare team, responsible for maintaining a safe environment in which quality patient care is delivered. The aide works under the direct daily supervision of the Operating Room Charge Nurse.
Pre‑requisites- Education: High school diploma or equivalent. VT Licensed Nursing Assistance license preferred.
- Experience: One year in a medical field preferred but not mandatory.

Skills:
Basic computer knowledge and typing skills a plus. Excellent customer‑service skills. Ability to assess and interpret data about patients’ status to meet age‑specific care needs across neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric groups. - Certifications: BLS required.

Director of Surgical Services. - Other contacts:
Surgeons and providers, Surgical Services staff, hospital personnel, patients, and families.
- Perform EKGs and blood draws for pre‑op testing.
- Assist RN staff in safely transporting patients to and from the surgical suite.
- Assist Vascular Access team with PICC line placement.
- Perform daily checks of anesthesia machines and report any issues to the OR Charge Nurse.
- Maintain appropriate supply levels in anesthesia and specialty carts.
- Transport stretchers and beds as needed for operating rooms.
- Deliver specimens to laboratory in a timely manner.
- Print preference cards, pick cases, and assemble case carts.
- Maintain supplies and organization of equipment room, PPE stock, and operating room cupboards.
- Assist with cleaning operating rooms at completion of each case per infection‑control guidelines.
- Support turnover processes to ensure smooth daily operations.
- Assist in other areas of Surgical Services, such as ambulatory and central sterile services, when the OR schedule allows.
- Lift and transport patients up to 25 lb.; move or lift heavy equipment up to 25 lb.; reach, bend, stoop, and kneel frequently.
- Exposure to blood‑borne pathogens; universal precautions required.
- Possible exposure to unpleasant elements and stressful environment due to multiple demands.
Face and eye protection, non‑sterile medical gloves, and other PPE as needed.
