Job Overview
The Legal Justice Coordinator plays a critical role in supporting the legal needs of residents within our domestic violence shelter. This position requires a compassionate and proactive individual with expertise in family law, domestic violence advocacy, and legal support.
The Coordinator assists survivors in understanding their rights, navigating the legal system, and accessing resources such as restraining orders, custody arrangements, and divorce proceedings.

Responsibilities- Assist survivors in understanding their legal rights and navigating the legal system.
- Help residents access resources needed to achieve legal protections, including restraining orders, custody arrangements, and divorce proceedings.
- Collaborate closely with legal professionals, local law enforcement, community partners, and shelter staff to ensure residents receive comprehensive, trauma‑informed legal support.
- Bachelor’s Degree in social or human services or a combination of education and experience that provides comparable skills and knowledge. Legal or law‑enforcement background is preferred.
- Experience in family law, domestic violence advocacy, or legal support services is highly preferred.
- Commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.
- An individual who is highly motivated, responsible, and able to relate nonjudgmentally to a wide variety of people.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to work sensitively with diverse populations and in high‑stress environments.
- Strong organizational and crisis‑intervention skills.
