Under the supervision of the RN, the LPN provides safe nursing care in a timely manner to patients in the PCU. The LPN performs within the scope of licensed practical nursing practice as defined by the State Board of Nursing.

• Education: Graduate of an accredited school of Practical Nursing with current VT LPN license.
• Experience: Previous clinical experience preferred.
• Certifications: BLS required.

• Reports To: Nurse Manager and Director of PCU
• Other Contacts: Charge Nurse, Physicians, Shift Administrators, patients and families, other employees, public & allied health agencies.

Includes use of equipment like computers and monitoring devices. Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds, position and transfer patients, and perform prolonged standing and walking.

Exposure to infectious diseases, contact with patients in various circumstances, and use of gowns, masks, gloves, and goggles.

• Perform nursing duties within scope and according to the State Board of Nursing.
• Collect data, communicate effectively, document accurately, protect confidentiality, and organize care.
• Prioritize tasks, seek assistance, and manage resources efficiently.
• Provide patient-centered care, advocate for patients, and adhere to ethical and legal standards.
• Delegate appropriately, participate in team care, and incorporate health promotion and education.
