The Operating Room RN provides safe nursing care in a timely manner to patients on the assigned unit with a high degree of independence. Performs within the scope of a RN as defined by the Vermont State Board of Nursing and functions regularly as charge nurse.

• Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing or enrolled in an accredited Direct Entry to Master of Science in Nursing Program with current licensure as a Registered Nurse in Vermont (VT RN license or Compact State RN).
• Experience: Successful completion of Surgical Services orientation.

  Required:
  
  BSL required; ACLS, PALS, CNOR recommended.

• Provide comprehensive nursing care, including assessment, intervention, evaluation, and equipment management.
• Communicate effectively with patients, team members, and management, ensuring accurate and timely information exchange.
• Maintain confidentiality and apply critical thinking and current best practices.
• Organize and prioritize workload, develop patient care plans, and seek assistance when needed.
• Build therapeutic relationships, advocate for patients, and deliver ethical and legal care.
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team and utilize teaching to promote health.
• Ensure patient safety during perioperative procedures, adhering to standards and protocols.
