Hiring Range: $33.00 USD to $47.44 USD
Job SummaryThe RN provides safe nursing care in a timely manner to patients on the assigned unit with a high degree of independence. Performs within the scope of an RN as defined by the Vermont State Board of Nursing, functions regularly as charge nurse.
Pre-requisites- Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing or enrolled in an accredited Direct Entry to Master of Science in Nursing Program with current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Vermont (VT RN license or Compact State RN).
- Experience: Perioperative and critical care experience preferred. If no prior critical care experience, critical care course must be completed during orientation.
- Certifications: ACLS and PALS required if trained to phase 1 (PACU). BLS required for all Ambulatory RNs. IV certification required.
- Reports To: Director Surgical Services
- Other Contacts: Charge nurse, providers and their staff, shift administrator, patients and their families/visitors, hospital staff, public, and other health care/community agencies.
- Machinery or Equipment Used: All office and patient care equipment.
- Physical Demands: Lifts, positions and/or transfers patients; pushes, moves and lifts heavy equipment/supplies; considerable reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching; prolonged extensive or considerable standing/walking; manual dexterity in using office equipment.
- Working Conditions: Exposure to crisis or stressful situations, infectious diseases/blood borne pathogens, possible stress from emergency situation and multiple interruptions; subject to irregular hours and unpredictable work situations.
- Required Protective Equipment: Masks and/or PAPR, gown, sterile and non-sterile gloves, face shield, goggles.
- Incorporates appropriate assessment and intervention skills in all interactions and delivery of nursing care, including safety & protection, assessment, intervention skills, evaluation, equipment use and management.
- Communicates with patients, team members, and management in an accurate and timely manner, evidenced by talking with and listening to patients and team members, reporting pertinent concise information with applicable follow-up, completing timely, accurate clinical documentation/order entry, protecting confidentiality of patient/colleagues, applying critical thinking skills and utilizing best practices and current research.
- Organizes multitask workload, prioritizes and customizes patient plan of care, appropriately seeks assistance, collects and integrates data from patient and/or multiple sources, organizes and delivers care for multiple patient assignments, develops and maintains humane care relationships.
- Adapts care management for diverse populations and environments, advocates for needs of patients and/or families, provides care in an ethical and legal manner, refers concerns/issues to appropriate resources, collaborates with all members of the multidisciplinary care team, demonstrates a therapeutic relationship for patients’ well-being, collaborates with all members of the Perioperative Health Care Team, manages self and resources effectively, acknowledges and adheres to limits of experience and capability, identifies learning needs and seeks resources, utilizes equipment and supplies appropriately, maintains clean orderly environment of care, ensures noise and traffic control in “sensitive areas”, seeks out and accepts feedback, requests assistance appropriately, applies leadership skills, appropriately utilizes scope of practice for self and others, interacts with others in a professional manner, manages conflict,…
