Position Overview
The Plant Operator is responsible for safely controlling production and load out of materials produced in the batch plant, as well as for scheduling and ensuring timely delivery of supplies to the plant to perform duties in conjunction with dispatch loading operations.
Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)The duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Enforce company safety rules and conduct safety meetings, including tool box talks; ensure facilities are operating in a safe manner.
- Accurately batch concrete load according to specifications. Read dispatch orders and understand required needs for production of materials.
- Conduct batching operations in an efficient and safe manner while complying with all local, state and federal regulations, including but not limited to: OSHA, MSHA, DEP, etc.
- Conduct batching functions in a professional manner and ensure compliance with job specifications and all applicable environmental and air quality regulations.
- Print invoice tickets on each truck/load and file them. Give copy of invoice to truck drivers to obtain customer payment upon delivery of materials as needed.
- Be responsible for efficient working conditions of plant equipment and trucks. Perform maintenance to batch plant which includes greasing parts, sweeping, shoveling, performing equipment repairs, and cleaning.
- Become proficient in all batching, dispatching & Quality Control Software.
- Manage plant inventory, including daily, weekly, and monthly reporting.
- Ability to understand appropriate uses of various mix designs.
- Must complete daily clerical functions including daily paperwork to Admin office (customer tickets/inbound materials/packing slips), daily bank deposits, etc.
- Assist dispatch in scheduling drivers based on customer demand. Be familiar with the delivery areas and assist drivers in finding jobsites.
- Identify and resolve regulatory, safety, personnel, and production problems, in a timely and effective manner.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the general public at all times.
- Must be willing to travel to other plants when required.
- Must be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary.
- Report to the assigned job site ready to begin work at the designated start time.
- Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Manual of Safety Practices and Procedures.
- Strict adherence to Company policies and procedures as outlined in the Company Book of Policies.
- Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
- Timely and regular attendance is an expectation of performance for all Company employees. Employees will be held accountable for adhering to their workplace schedule.
