• Provide high‑quality care for intermediate‑acuity patients transitioning from critical care to Med/Surg level.
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care using evidence‑based practices.
• Perform accurate hand‑offs and bedside shift reporting to maintain patient safety.
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practitioners, and multidisciplinary partners to optimize patient outcomes.
• Administer medications, monitor complex conditions (cardiac, respiratory, post‑ICU), and support recovery.
• Participate in huddles, shared governance activities, and unit‑based quality improvement initiatives.

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (ADN, Diploma, or BSN).
• BSN preferred.

• Current Missouri RN license or compact license.

• Required:
  
  BLS (American Heart Association).
• Preferred: ACLS, NIHSS, PCCN, or other Stepdown‑related certifications.

• Participate in Mercy’s defined Career Path Program — ideal for building strong assessment, communication, critical‑thinking, and time‑management skills on your way to becoming an expert in Stepdown or related specialties.
• Opportunities for future advancement into ICU, Telemetry, Behavioral Health, ED, and more, typically within 12–18 months based on performance and interest.
• Engage in lifelong learning through continuing education, mentorship, certification support, and unit‑based committees.
