Job Overview

The Roadway Pavement Marking and Striping Laborer performs temporary and permanent pavement marking applications while adhering to all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, company policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.

Essential Job Functions
  • Assist the Machine Operator with Highway Marking operations
  • Operate various types of pavement marking equipment
  • Load and unload equipment and materials into and out of company trucks
  • Stand and walk for extended periods of time during day or night shifts
  • Assist with lane closures and set-up of traffic control devices
  • Complete daily paperwork as required by supervisor
  • Available to work days, nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Perform all other duties as assigned
Desired Qualifications
  • 3-5 years of pavement marking and traffic control or related experience (e.g., Road Construction, Highway Maintenance, Construction)
  • MOT Advanced certification

Requirements
  • Repeated physical effort including driving several hours per day, standing and walking for extended periods, loading and unloading equipment, and lifting a minimum of 50 pounds
  • Working from elevated platforms, ladders, or truck beds
  • Operating hand/power tools and manual dexterity to use keyboards, smartphones, and repetitive hand/arm/leg motions
  • Working outdoors safely under adverse environmental and weather conditions, including high-speed traffic areas, heavy construction equipment, fuel fumes, and construction substances
  • Comfortable around vehicles moving through work zones while maintaining constant awareness of surroundings on construction sites, including placement of machinery and equipment, other employees, and construction activities
  • Vision adequate to see moving vehicles, read highway construction MOT signs, read instructions, manuals, reports, and construction plans
  • Hearing adequate to hear approaching vehicles, audible commands at a distance from supervisors, and conversations in person or over the telephone
  • Clear communication both written and verbally, with the ability to complete daily paperwork as required by supervisor
  • Flexible schedule that can include day or night shifts, weekends, holidays, overtime, and individual and team work with other employees
  • Valid driver’s license required, passing MVR and controlled substance test, and background and criminal record check
  • Maintain company standards post-employment for background checks, criminal record, driving record, and controlled substance/drug testing
