Overview
Full-time Monday through Friday 8am to 5pm
The Surgical Scheduler is responsible for managing practice schedule for patient surgeries. Coordinates an effective, efficient admission process for patients. Completes various medical office functions: verifies insurances, collects co pays and fees, and completes new patient registration, medical record requests, and other tasks.
Responsibilities- Obtains all necessary patient demographic, health, and insurance information from patient and/or physician’s office.
- Responsible for verifying all patients’ coverage and benefits, eligibility, enrollment history, and demographic information. Inputs all information from providers/members into the electronic record.
- Obtains authorizations and/or pre-certifications as needed.
- Maintains surgery schedule and accurately prepares final surgery schedule for timely distribution. Monitors physician block out time. Schedules all procedures to be performed in facility. Confirms patient surgery times with the appropriate UF Health Flagler Hospital operating department. Completes reminder calls for patient surgery times and appointments. Coordinates surgical cases with medical reps and surgical schedulers.
- Orders procedures and labs for patients, prepares consents and financial papers for surgeries. Calls in prescription medications to pharmacy as indicated. Prints and prepares hospital consults with supporting documentation as outlined in the approved and valid clinical protocols.
- Responsible for various financial transactions: takes and accurately records patient payments for balances during check in and check-out, runs daily batch report for billing and balances to daily schedule of fees charged, triage billing questions as needed.
- Performs routine audits and verifies patient charts are completed, contain all necessary contents with all signatures obtained.
Education / Training
- High School Diploma/Equivalent
Experience Requirements
- 1-year Medical Office experience
