Pharmacy Technician | Pharmacy

Overview

The Registered Pharmacy Technician supports the pharmacist in supplying patients with pharmaceutical products. Under supervision, the technician prepares and distributes medications and supplies, communicates pertinent information to internal and external customers, and manages inventory.

• Assist in providing medications and pharmaceutical supplies for patients under the direct supervision of the pharmacist.
• Assist with medication restock in automated dispensing cabinets. Deliver drugs to patient care and other areas of the hospital as needed.
• Assist in the prepackaging of solid and liquid doses. Prepare unit dose medications as per computer labels and fill lists. Accurately enter information into the computer; produce profiles, charges, and fill lists at the appropriate time.
• Answer the telephone, receiving and relaying messages as needed.
• Unpack and store supplies. Verify items received against invoices, and store perishables appropriately. Check invoices against purchase orders to make sure all items are received and charges are correct.
• Assist in performing monthly medication room inspections, and participate in the quality assurance program.
• Perform all other duties as assigned by management within job scope.

Education / Training:
High School Diploma/Equivalent

Experience Requirements: 0 - 1 year Pharmacy Tech experience

Preferences:
Hospital pharmacy experience

Certificates/Licenses/Registration: FL Registered Pharmacy Technician (RPT) License or FL Pharmacy Intern License

Additional Preferences:
Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or Exam for Certification of Pharmacy Technicians (ExCPT) preferred.
