- Military Internship Program (Skill Bridge):

This program is for transitioning service members within their last 6 months of service, offering them a chance to gain valuable civilian work experience through an internship of up to 180 days. It’s designed as a pathway for motivated military candidates to potentially transition into full-time roles at Northrop Grumman after their service. While participating in Skill Bridge, service members continue to receive their military compensation and benefits.
Internship Position:
Aircraft Structures Mechanic – Level 1

This internship role is within the E-2D Manufacturing and Production Organization, located in Saint Augustine, Florida.

Responsibilities:

• Performing a variety of operations to assemble and make major aircraft structures, such as fuselage panels, bulkheads, and structural subassemblies.
Reading and understanding blueprints.
Translating blueprints into fabrications of structural assemblies, including precision drilling, countersinking, and using calibrated tools.
Aligning parts on jigs using templates and fixtures.
Performing part-fitting operations (filing, sawing, burring, crimping, trimming, framing, riveting, drilling, and reaming).
Measuring parts with micrometers and calipers to verify dimensions.

• Modifying incomplete and complete assemblies to incorporate changes and verifying quality.

• Required ability to be certified for a half & full face respirator.
Ability to work flexible, changing shifts, including weekends.

Requirements:

• High School diploma or GED and hobby/technical related experience in mechanical, sheet metal, composites, body work, electrical, or other dexterous activities and 1 year of related aerospace or Military experience
Must be able to perform moderate strenuous physical and repetitious work to include bending, stooping, kneeling, lifting up to 25 pounds, and working overhead
Must be able to access small, confined spaces and work in an enclosed environment.
Ability to pass medical/respiratory evaluation in order to obtain and maintain necessary respirator clearance and compliance with all respirator fitting requirements.
Ability to obtain and maintain Secret DoD Clearance within a reasonable period of time
