RN Float IV | Nursing Float Pool | Full Time | Days Overview
The Registered Nurse Float IV provides individualized nursing care services within the standards of nursing practice: assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, evaluation, and patient health education. The RN Float IV will work primarily in the ER but may float to other units for which they are qualified.
Responsibilities- Perform accurate and complete assessments on patients within established time frames; request consults as indicated. Establish and update a patient plan of care based on periodic assessments.
- Assist with providing for the physical comfort and safety of patients (bath and linen changes, medication administration, dietary intake, and other necessary treatments). Ensure security of patient’s personal items and report discrepancies to supervisor in a timely fashion.
- Attend rounds with physicians as indicated, assist with exams, discuss patient progress, review and implement physician’s orders, and provide concise bedside report regarding patients’ status to the oncoming shift.
- Demonstrate the proper procedure for obtaining, charging for, and returning supplies/equipment and maintain adequate supply levels through accurate inventory control.
- Obtain and verify consent forms.
- Supervise and give assignments to the staff assigned to patients.
- Recognize and intervene in life‑threatening emergencies, including the administration of emergency drugs and use of a defibrillator or other emergency treatment.
- Regularly evaluate patients’ level of pain using an approved pain scale, intervene in a timely manner to alleviate pain, and evaluate the effectiveness of relief efforts.
- Educate patients and their families to pain management at UF Health St. Johns.
- Perform QA initiatives related to core Measures and Flagler Hospital Admission Standards.
- Provide and document patient education based on assessed needs, including family and patient preferences in teaching as appropriate.
- Perform all other duties as assigned by management within the job scope.
- Associate’s degree in Nursing.
- 3 years of acute care nursing.
- 5+ years in Critical Care preferred.
- Emergency Department experience preferred.
- Active Florida RN license.
- BLS.
- ACLS.
- PALS.
- WELLE.
- NIHSS.
