The FDVA Nursing State Veterans Nursing Homes and Domiciliary are designated employment sites for Nursing Student Loan Forgiveness Program. From funds available, the program may make nursing education loan repayments up to $4,000 per year, per nurse enrolled in the program, for a maximum of four years. Payment is made at the end of each 12-month enrollment period and made directly to the participant’s lender.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Current licensure as a State of Florida Registered Nurse.
  • Experience with Electronic Health Records.
  • Must be willing to work weekends and holidays are required.
  • Must have a current BLS CPR Card.
  • Possess communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Three (3) years of experience providing nursing services in a long-term health care environment (nursing home, skilled nursing, or assisted living facility).
  • Must have at least one (1) year of supervisory experience.
  • Successful completion of the due diligence process includes but is not limited to a Level II background check and drug test.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience with Matrix Care electronic medical records.
  • Experience in staff development/conduction of in-service training.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
POSITION DESCRIPTION
  • The incumbent is responsible for providing quality professional care to the veteran residents to ensure their health, safety, and security in accordance with established agency Standard Operating Procedures and Nurse Practice Act. Provide initial and ongoing assessment of the resident population.

    Perform assigned duties to include but not limited to administration of medications and treatments per MD order, monitoring and providing interventions to meet the needs of the resident, completing accurate clinical documentation reflective of resident’s status, and providing supervision and guidance to the RN, LPN, CNA, and other Allied Health Care Professionals. Works under the direct supervision of the Executive Nursing Director (DON), or designee.
  • Supervise and direct nursing personnel on an assigned shift. Ensure nursing personnel follow job descriptions and the residents receive total quality nursing care.

    Review shift assignments and ensure that the assignments reflect the ability of the staff person to meet the specific nursing care needs of the residents. Ensure that work assignments are written, dated, and posted. Receive notices of absence when nursing staff calls off, and coordinates assignments to maintain regulatory compliance and meet the needs of the residents.

    Assist with coverage on the floor as needed.
  • Notify the Administrator and/or DON of any emergency situations in the building.
