Responsibilities
  • Model and deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience.
  • Register sales on assigned cash register and provide customers with courteous, fair, friendly, and efficient checkout service.
  • Assist the pharmacist, under direct supervision, in the practice of pharmacy in accordance with state and federal regulations; use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions.
  • Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services; resolve customer issues and answer questions to ensure a positive customer experience.
  • Share customer service best practices with all team members, including interpersonal habits (e.g., greeting, eye contact, courtesy) and Walgreens service traits (e.g., proactive help, identifying needs, servicing until satisfied).
  • Provide customers with courteous, friendly, fast, and efficient service.
  • Recommend items for sale to customers and suggest trade‑up and/or companion items.
  • Record customer purchases on assigned cash register, collect cash and distribute change, process voids, returns, rain checks, refunds, and exchanges; take customers to the OTC aisle when appropriate.
  • Keep counters and shelves clean and well merchandised; maintain inventory records; check in and price merchandise as required.
  • Perform duties assigned by Pharmacy Manager, Staff Pharmacist, and Store Manager, including using pharmacy systems to enter patient and drug information, ensuring correct data entry, filling prescriptions by counting and pouring pharmaceutical drugs, verifying medicine, checking for interactions, and assisting pharmacists with scheduling and workflow.
  • Report prescription errors immediately to the pharmacist on duty and follow company policies, procedures, and the Quality Improvement Program; review and comply with the Walgreen Co. Pharmacy Code of Conduct and Good Faith Dispensing policy.
  • Handle telephone calls that do not require the pharmacist’s personal attention, including those to physicians.
  • Correct and resubmit manual claims for third‑party prescription services promptly; perform other clerical duties assigned by the Pharmacy Manager.
  • Support Pharmacy Department inventory management activities such as ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing shipments of pharmaceuticals; maintain knowledge of asset protection techniques; file claims for warehouse overages, shortages, order errors, or damaged goods involving Rx drugs.
  • Ensure compliance with state and local laws regarding regulated products (e.g., alcoholic beverages and tobacco products).
  • Construct and maintain displays, including promotional, seasonal, and sale merchandise; complete resets and revisions as directed.
  • Assist with separation of food items and product placement per policy; for consumable items assist with stock rotation and the first‑in, first‑out method.
  • Maintain knowledge of store systems and store equipment.
  • Provide customer service in the photo area, including digital passport photo service, poster printing, and creative machine sales.
  • Assume web pick‑up responsibilities (monitor orders in Picture Care Plus, pick items, and deliver orders to customers on arrival).
  • Assist with exterior and interior maintenance to ensure a clean, neat, and orderly store condition and appearance.
  • Maintain respectful relationships with coworkers and comply with all company policies and procedures; complete special assignments and other tasks as assigned.
Training & Personal Development
  • Earn and maintain PTCB certification through the designated PTCB training program and/or state-required certification/registration.
  • Attend training and complete PPLs requested by Manager or assigned by corporate; acquire continuing education credits; maintain knowledge and skill in healthcare and pharmacy, including latest news and developments.
Basic Qualifications
  • Fluent reading, writing, and speaking English. (Except in Puerto Rico)
