Job DescriptioniDeal is searching for a Shipping and Receiving Supervisor to play a critical role in the efficient, cost‑effective movement of goods to the customer. This position is responsible for overseeing the booking of freight shipments with carriers, ensuring timely delivery of outgoing orders while effectively managing inbound materials. In addition, the supervisor will lead and develop the shipping and receiving staff and maintain the finished‑goods inventory.
The ideal candidate possesses strong analytical, communication, and problem‑solving skills, with a focus on optimizing logistics operations. This position reports to the Director of Operations.
- Lead the Warehouse and Shipping team, maintaining a “Safety First” Culture with a Continuous Improvement Mindset
- Develop and optimize logistic processes to prepare for and meet business growth
- Oversee the efficient execution of the outbound freight shipments schedule with various carriers (truckload, LTL, etc.) based on customer orders, delivery dates, and budget requirements
- Optimize transportation costs through rate negotiation and alternative delivery options (i.e. utilizing 1099 Drivers, etc.)
- Ensure the preparation and maintenance of accurate shipping documentation, including Bills of Lading (BOL), customs documents, and other necessary paperwork
- Collaborate with other departments to monitor the status of product completion to ensure accuracy and agility of freight scheduling. Make necessary adjustments and communicate as needed
- Identify and recommend process improvements, enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of the logistics operations
- Build and maintain strong relationships with carriers, suppliers, and internal staff
- Optimize product locations and arrangements within warehouse and yard, supporting efficient space utilization and staging effectiveness
- Recommend and implement Key Performance Indicators to drive personnel performance and determine staffing levels to meet customer demand
- Stay abreast of industry best practices and new technologies related to freight transportation
- Other duties as assigned
- Comfortable in a high‑change, turnaround environment with the ability to develop and build effective logistical processes
- Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills with a focus on delivering customer expectations
- Manages time efficiently; able to handle multiple priorities without missing deadlines
- Fosters teamwork, communication, and mutual respect throughout the company
- High school diploma or equivalent; bachelor’s degree preferred
- 5+ years of experience in freight scheduling or a related logistics role
- Experience with transportation management systems (TMS) preferred
- 3+ years of leading a Warehouse, Shipping, and Receiving Team
- Ability to walk and stand for extended periods of time
- Ability to work in a non‑climate‑controlled environment
- Ability to sit for extended periods of time while working on a computer
- Ability to use hands and fingers for typing and data entry
- Ability to speak clearly and concisely
- May occasionally be required to lift and/or carry up to 50 lbs
