Immediate Care Technician – St. Charles Immediate Care Center (Full Time Days)

Schedule:
Three 12‑hour shifts per week, 7:30 a.m. – 8:00 p.m., with alternate weekends and rotating holidays required.
- Assist with efficient patient flow by escorting patients to exam rooms, identifying them with two identifiers, and preparing them for examination.
- Obtain accurate vital signs.
- Document reason for visit and update health information such as allergies, smoking history, and pharmacy details.
- Immediately inform MD/APP of any significant changes in vital signs or acute symptoms.
- Prepare equipment and supplies needed for the visit.
- Clean and ready exam rooms for the next patient.
- Prioritize tasks to expedite visits and maintain patient flow.
- Assist with referrals, transfers, and discharge processes.
- Assist MD/APP with medical and surgical procedures following established protocols, including ECG, venipuncture, immunizations, specimen collection, CLIA‑waived testing, wound care, splinting, and other duties as directed.
- Provide high‑quality care by preparing and stocking all exam rooms, participating in environmental safety rounds, maintaining vaccine/medication inventory, ensuring medication cabinets are locked, monitoring equipment, ordering supplies, and managing disposal of expired items.
- Act as an integral part of the patient care team, interacting professionally and courteously with patients and other staff, offering assistance, attending staff meetings, and communicating effectively in person and over the phone.
- Perform delegated procedures common to the specialty area safely and efficiently.
- May perform other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Written proof of meeting eligibility for one of the five eligible certification exams (AAMA, AMT, NCCT, NHA, NRCMA). Accepted documentation includes letters from the school or certifying body as applicable.
- Completion of one of the following certifications within the first six months of employment (up to two test attempts):
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) – American Association of Medical Assistants.
- Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) – American Medical Technologists.
- National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) – National Center for Competency Testing.
- Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) – National Health career Association.
- Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA) – National Association for Health Professionals.
- Emergency Medical Technician – Paramedic or Basic, including Illinois EMT License.
- Basic Life Support certification (American Heart Association).
- Completion of pre‑employment competency exam.
- Strong computer skills.
- Experience with electronic medical record systems.
- College degree or strong interest in a health care field.
- One to two years of ambulatory care experience.
