DescriptionLegal Assistant - Medicaid Eligibility Specialist - MO Health Net/Long-Term Care Applications
We are seeking a detail-oriented, compassionate, and highly organized Medicaid Eligibility Specialist to prepare, submit, and follow through on long-term-care Medicaid applications for clients.
This is NOT a government caseworker position — it’s a client-facing role inside a private elder law firm where you will have the time, support, and resources to do it right without overwhelming caseloads.
This position is ideal for:
- Former or current DSS/FSD Eligibility Specialists
- Former Income Maintenance Caseworkers
- Hospital-based Medicaid Eligibility Workers

- Elder Law Firm Legal Assistants or Paralegals
- Anyone with hands-on MO Health Net eligibility experience
- Prepare, submit, and manage MO Health Net / Medicaid long-term-care applications
- Review client income, assets, bank statements, deeds, and financial documents
- Communicate with DSS caseworkers and follow up on application status
- Guide families through spend-down rules, asset documentation, and required verifications
- Maintain accurate case notes and workflow within our systems (Actionstep, Lawmatics)
- Work closely with attorneys, paralegals, and funding coordinators
- Provide updates to clients and explain Medicaid eligibility requirements in simple, understandable terms
- Track deadlines, respond to Requests for Information (RFI), and support clients through the approval process
This is a role where you are part of a team, not overwhelmed with 300+ cases and impossible deadlines.
QualificationsRequired:
Hands-on Missouri Medicaid eligibility experience
- (MO Health Net preferred; LTC experience strongly preferred)
Experience with:
- DSS/FSD eligibility processing
- Nursing home Medicaid applications
- Spend-down rules
