Registered Nurses (RN) at Recovery Centers of America render professional nursing care to patients with behavioral healthcare needs and perform total patient care assigned, including administering prescribed medications.
The RN works with clinical and case management staff to coordinate care, assists with treatment plans, maintains patients' medical records on nursing observations, and may assist physicians during treatment and examination of patients.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct intake assessments through interviews with patients and relatives to gather case history.
- Plan and provide nursing care for patients.
- Make nursing diagnoses of the patients' medical status and recommend treatment options.
- Consult with medical, clinical, and behavioral healthcare staff to design appropriate treatment plans.
- Administer medications and record reactions to psychotropic drugs and other medications.
- Arrange further medical attention when necessary.
- Assist clients in understanding mental health disorders, addiction, and the need for treatment.
- Maintain a safe and secure environment for staff and patients.
- Test vital signs and ensure pain management.
- Document all patient information on medical charts and follow physician orders.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and accurate records of treatments, immunizations, and lab results.
- Provide courteous, high‑quality service to patients and their families by responding to service requests or making appropriate referrals.
- Uphold personal and professional ethics, respecting the culture, beliefs, and abilities of individuals.
- Communicate effectively, deliver reports and presentations, and engage in problem‑solving with colleagues.
- Work collaboratively with other health professionals and leaders from related disciplines.
- Preferred:
Bachelor’s degree in nursing or equivalent education/experience. - Active registered nursing license in the state where care is delivered.
- Current BLS certification preferred (or must complete during orientation).
- Two years of experience in behavioral healthcare or addiction services; five years of supervisory experience is preferred.
- Knowledge of health care, detoxification, addiction, co‑occurring disorders, and DSM criteria.
- Ability to read and interpret written information, write clearly, edit for spelling and grammar.
- Strong verbal, non‑verbal, and written communication.
- Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; knowledge of facility systems preferred.
- CARN certification preferred; competency in CLIA‑waived testing.
- Proficiency in suicide‑ideation and aggression assessment.
- Ability to safely administer medications including CPR competency.
- Excellent verbal, nonverbal, and written communication.
- Effective information exchange with patients, families, physicians, associates, and the health‑care system.
- Patient‑centered, timely, efficient, and equitable care for health problems and wellness promotion.
The job is performed in a professional setting using standard office equipment. The noise level is moderate. Nurses must be prepared for long hours, including weekends, holidays, and night shifts.
Physical DemandsHeavy lifting up to 50 lbs., carrying up to 45 lbs., bending, pulling, pushing, stooping, squatting, kneeling, using both arms and hands, overhead work, prolonged walking (up to 4 hrs/day), standing (up to 4 hrs/day), sitting (up to 2 hrs/day), vision and hearing requirements, emotional stability, and emergency response with CPR.
TravelPrimarily local travel during the business day, with occasional out‑of‑area and overnight travel.
