Location: St. Charles
Nidec Mobility America Corporation (NMOA) is seeking an energetic and focused Customer Quality Supervisor for its St. Charles, IL operations. As a world leader in sensing and control technology, NMOA develops automotive electronic products for leading OEMs, including Ford.
ObjectiveThe Customer Quality Supervisor leads a small team of Quality Engineers and technicians, serves as the primary liaison for customer quality issues, and drives quality standards, product inspection/testing, and continuous improvement initiatives to support Ford.
Responsibilities- Customer Liaison
:
Act as the primary contact for customer inquiries and concerns related to product quality (Ford). Prepare and approve customer response letters and reports. - Team Leadership
:
Supervise, coach, and counsel Customer Quality Engineer team members including planning, setting performance goals, assigning tasks, and facilitating problem‑solving using established methodologies such as 8D. - Issue Containment & Resolution
:
Serve as the first responder to quality issues on the production floor or from customer reports and develop containment plans to prevent the flow of defective products to customers. - Root Cause Analysis (RCA):
Lead cross‑functional teams in root cause analysis for internal and external quality issues; ensure effective corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) are implemented and documented. - Quality System Compliance
:
Maintain a strong working knowledge of IATF
16949 and ISO
9001/IATF
16949 automotive quality standards and customer‑specific requirements (CSRs). - Product Quality Monitoring
:
Track and analyze quality data from internal inspections, audits, and customer feedback; present quality metrics, reports, and trends to management. - Establish quality and reliability standards by incorporating product and customer requirements with production operators, technicians, and engineers.
- Ensure testing procedures meet customer requirements.
- Establish and sustain standards for disposition of finished products by developing evaluation tests, methods, and procedures.
- Process Improvement
:
Identify opportunities for process improvement, recommend and implement cost‑effective error‑proofing strategies, and execute initiatives to improve overall quality. - Documentation & Audits
:
Create and maintain Product Quality Documentation System (quality manuals and procedures); support internal and external audits to ensure readiness and compliance. - Prepare product and process quality reports; communicate results and trends to cross‑functional teams.
- Launch Readiness Support
:
Support product launch readiness assessments and ensure new programs comply with all quality requirements. - Supplier Collaboration
:
Work with supplier quality and engineering teams to resolve issues related to incoming materials. - Maintain professional and technical knowledge through workshops, publications, and professional society participation.
- Support and implement the ISO
14001 Environmental Policy as it pertains to work activities. - Provide quality support for new product launch activities.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or a related technical field is highly preferred; high school degree or equivalent required.
- 3+ years’ experience in a quality leadership supervisory role within a manufacturing environment, supporting Ford.
- Automotive industry experience (highly preferred)
- Strong working knowledge of IATF
16949 - Knowledge of core quality tools: APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, and MSA
- Proficiency with measurement equipment and interpreting technical documents such as blueprints and GD&T
- Knowledge of IPC 610, AECQ 100, AECQ 200, and electronics testing standards
- Experience with problem‑solving methodologies such as 8D
- Working knowledge of AIAG requirements and core tools; experience with plating, plastic molding, metal stamping or welding desirable
- Analytical thinking and use of various problem‑solving techniques including pareto charts, cause and effect, histograms, and Ishikawa diagrams
- Knowledge of soldering, electronic components, and PCB assembly
- Familiarity with corrective action programs, DOE, and other SPC tools
- Strong analytical and data‑driven problem‑solving skills
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent written and verbal communication with internal and external customers
- Quality engineering or manufacturing engineering experience in an automated mass‑production environment
