We are seeking a detail‑oriented Accounting Clerk to provide critical support in the processing, recording, updating, and reconciling of fiscal information, ensuring the smooth and compliant operation of financial tasks within the department.
Job SummaryThe Accounting Clerk is responsible for providing support to department activities by processing, recording, updating, and reconciling fiscal data, and generating periodic reports in compliance with established financial practices. This role is integral to maintaining accurate financial records and assisting with departmental operations.
Key Responsibilities- Auditor Support:
Provide supporting documentation for audit requests. - Financial Data Processing:
Collect and process financial information such as batch totals, p‑card logs, and bank transactions. - Record Maintenance:
Maintain accurate financial records and files, ensuring compliance with policies and regulatory guidelines. - Report Preparation:
Prepare and distribute written materials and electronic financial reports for compliance with legal and administrative requirements. - Discrepancy Research:
Investigate and resolve discrepancies in financial documentation to ensure accuracy before processing. - Staff and Administration Support:
Respond to inquiries regarding financial procedures, offering information, direction, and assistance as needed. - Meeting Participation:
Attend department meetings, in‑service training, and workshops to stay informed and contribute to the team. - Additional Duties:
Perform other duties as assigned to ensure the smooth operation of the accounting department.
- Education:
High school diploma or equivalent (required). Additional training in accounting or related field preferred. - Experience:
Job‑related experience is required. - Skills:
- Proficiency in standard bookkeeping/accounting procedures.
- Ability to apply district, state, and federal policies and regulations.
- Competence in using standard office equipment and relevant software applications.
- Knowledge:
- Basic math, including fractions, percentages, and ratios.
- Knowledge of accounting/bookkeeping principles.
- Abilities:
- Ability to schedule and organize tasks, gather and process data, and use job‑related equipment.
- Flexibility to work with diverse individuals and data.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
