PART-TIME CLERICAL SUPPORT / MEDICAL EXAMINER
Job Description:
The purpose of this position is to provide general clerical support to the Regional Medical Examiner department, including entering data into the computer. This position acts under the supervision of the Director of Operations. Responsibilities include typing, data entry, scanning, filing, and interacting with the public in potentially adversarial situations.
- Enter information into the computer.
- Answer and direct calls by taking messages and referring callers to appropriate personnel.
- Assist in data entry of nursing home and hospice death reports received Monday‑Friday.
- File and retrieve records utilizing filing system.
- Update, edit, and verify reports as necessary.
- Type, copy, file, and perform other general clerical duties for department personnel as necessary.
- Assist the public in locating specific information and making photocopies.
- Scan documents into medical examiner database – perform proofing procedures for accuracy and legibility.
- Sort and distribute incoming mail – prepare certified mail – prepare bulk mailings.
- Respond to inquiries and provide information and assistance to general public by telephone or mail as mandated by Regional Medical Examiner Office concerns.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Clerical training.
- Knowledge of basic record‑keeping procedures and equipment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, and equipment.
- Working skill in customer relations and service.
- Employment is contingent on successfully passing a full criminal background check.

- Customer Service – 80 %.
- Microsoft Word – 50 %.
- Microsoft Excel – 50 %.
