RECORDS and ARCHIVES TECHNICIAN

ST CHARLES COUNTY FINANCE DEPARTMENT

MINIMUM HOURLY RATE: $17.76 per hour

This is a part-time clerical support position working approximately 20-25 hours per week. This is a temporary position needed for approximately 4-6 months only.

Job Description

The purpose of this position is to provide archival, clerical, and technical support to the County Registrars Office in the management, organization, and preservation of County records. Work includes inventorying archival materials, preparing records for disposition, updating the Countys records management system, and assisting with various Registrar-related clerical tasks.

Responsibilities
  • Conducting inventory of archival records stored in county facilities.
  • Identifying records eligible for destruction by reviewing and interpreting the Missouri Local Government Records Retention Schedules and organizing or preparing boxes for disposal upon authorization from County Counsel.
  • Assists with the boxing, labeling, and arrangement of County Council minutes and other official records.
  • Utilizes the Countys records management system to assign files to boxes, create and update file entries, input metadata, and maintain accurate retention information.
  • Reads and applies retention and disposition rules to ensure compliance with Missouri records law and County policy.
  • Sorts, organizes, and files ordinances, resolutions, and other Registrar-managed records.
  • Assists with correcting and rehousing materials needing preservation and organization.
  • Responds to routine inquiries and communicates professionally with County Staff.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
