Job SummaryFull‑time position with the St. Charles County Family Court – Juvenile Division (11th Judicial Circuit). This is a county‑paid position.
Starting Salary$57,265.68 per year (with benefits)
Job DescriptionSupervise juveniles and families referred to the Juvenile Office for child abuse/neglect, status offenses, and law violations. This includes assessing juveniles and families for risks and needs, formulating recommendations, and ensuring that they follow through with recommended or court‑ordered services. The position works under the direction of a Unit Supervisor.
Responsibilities- Interview and assess families who have been referred for child abuse/neglect, delinquency, and status offenses to determine appropriate services and recommendations for court. Services and recommendations should serve the best interest of a child.
- Complete criminal record checks on family members and potential or prospective placement providers. Obtain records from other agencies including child‑domicile, schools, hospitals, mental health and drug treatment providers.
- Serve summonses and subpoenas.
- Prepare written Social Investigations that will be admitted to court.
- Testify in court, under oath, to justify information and recommendations contained in your Social Investigation.
- Supervise juveniles on formal or informal probation and children in foster care. Help ensure the families follow through with recommended or court‑ordered services and treatment.
- Conduct field work including visits to homes, residential facilities, schools, and service providers.
- Visit juveniles in the detention facility.
- Transport juveniles in work vehicles.
- Collaborate and attend meetings with outside agencies including child‑domicile, DYS, schools, police departments, and service providers.
- Read juveniles their rights and observe police interrogations to ensure due process.
- Observe Child Advocacy Center interviews when applicable.
- Enter and update data in the juvenile information system.
- Attend work‑related trainings and conferences.
- Occasional on‑call duties.
