As a Technician, you will support the pharmacy team in delivering operational and service excellence within your store. You will often be the first point of contact to assist our patients and customers and contribute to safe and effective operations by following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), best practices and effective communication. You will demonstrate genuine care and contribute to a safe and inclusive culture.
Once in role, technicians are required to complete a rigorous training program and satisfy all registration, licensing and certification requirements according to your State’s Board of Pharmacy guidelines. Until completed, duties may be restricted by the Pharmacy Manager.
Responsibilities- Live our purpose by following all company SOPs at each workstation to help our Pharmacists manage and improve patient health.
- Follow pharmacy workflow procedures at each pharmacy workstation (i.e., production, pick‑up, drive‑thru, and drop‑off) for safe and accurate prescription fulfillment.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and genuine care: creating heartfelt and personalized moments while serving patients at pick‑up, drive‑thru, and over the phone; offering immunizations and other services; and demonstrating compassionate care by solving or escalating patient problems.
- Complete basic inventory activities, as permitted by law and directed by pharmacy leadership (e.g., accurately putting away medication deliveries, completing cycle counts, returns‑to‑stocks, waiting bin inventories, etc.).
- Contribute to a high‑performing team, embrace a growth mindset, and be receptive to feedback; actively seek opportunities to expand clinical and technical knowledge.
- Remain flexible for scheduling and business needs, including voluntarily traveling to stores as needed.
- Understand and comply with all relevant federal, state, and local laws, regulations, professional standards, and ethical principles; comply with CVS policies and procedures to ensure patient safety and privacy.
- Deliver additional patient health‑care services (e.g., immunizations, point‑of‑care testing, and voluntarily staffing off‑site clinics) where allowable by law and supported by required training and certification.
- Complete additional licensure and training requirements to obtain Technician Immunizer status.
- Educate patients about the importance of vaccines and refer them to the Pharmacist‑on‑duty for vaccination questions.
- Monitor for, respond to, and report adverse reactions per public health requirements.
- Review and collect patient information; track and document for each applicable patient.
- Monitor and manage vaccine supplies.
- Must comply with any state board of pharmacy requirements or laws governing the practice of pharmacy, including but not limited to age, education, and licensure/certification.
