About the Role
St Clair Eye is seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Medical Billing Specialist to support our billing operations. This role is responsible for managing insurance claims, following up on outstanding balances, processing payments, and assisting patients with billing questions. We're looking for someone who is organized, communicates professionally, and takes pride in accuracy and customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Submit and manage medical and vision insurance claims accurately and in a timely manner
- Follow up on unpaid, rejected, and denied claims to ensure appropriate reimbursement
- Post insurance payments and reconcile billing records
- Review and manage patient balances, statements, and billing inquiries
- Research billing discrepancies, correct claim errors, and assist with appeals as needed
- Maintain accurate billing documentation and protect patient confidentiality
- Monitor changes to medical billing and coding guidelines, and insurance regulations
- Verify insurance eligibility and benefits when needed
Qualifications
- Previous medical billing or insurance claims experience preferred
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving skills
- Professional communication and customer service skills
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
- Capability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage deadlines
- Comfortable learning practice management and billing software
