Join Game Stop as an Assistant Store Manager and help create unforgettable experiences for gamers. In this role you support the Store Manager in all aspects of store operations while driving sales and guest satisfaction.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide best‑in‑class guest service: greet guests promptly, respond to questions quickly and courteously, and assist guests with meeting their gaming needs.
  • Support the total shopping environment, including visual and operational elements, current sales initiatives, and the guest relationships that lead to sales and repeat business.
  • Process guest purchases and returns accurately using the POS computer system, ensuring top‑notch service for each transaction.
  • Respond to guest comments or questions in person or on the phone, escalating issues to the Store Manager as needed.
  • Promote Game Stop’s unique guest benefits, such as new title reservations, the trade‑in program, and the Pro Rewards loyalty program.
  • Assist the Store Manager with setting guest service expectations for associates and training them on all job responsibilities, policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Observe associate performance and provide timely feedback to the Store Manager.
  • Provide recognition and feedback to all store associates, inputting written feedback into Workday/HR service management systems.
  • Ensure associates complete all onboarding, job training, and compliance training prior to opening or closing shifts on their own.
  • Schedule store associates, ensuring all breaks and meals are accounted for and staffing levels achieve optimum guest service.
  • Approve payroll, enter paid time off, make time edits, and verify associates are paid for all time worked.
  • Maintain store cleanliness, organization, and merchandising per company guidelines and ensure all fixtures and equipment are operational.
  • Fulfill and ship Omni‑Channel orders daily.
  • Protect company assets through effective inventory control and loss prevention practices, including scam awareness and safety best practices.
  • Support the team in meeting and exceeding sales, profit, and shrink goals and complete required administrative and operational duties.
  • Perform store inventory counts, restock merchandise, and ensure products are represented, organized, and alphabetized on the sales floor.
  • Balance and reconcile daily business transaction totals accurately in the POS system.
  • Verify shipments for discrepancies, record them, conduct merchandise counts, and communicate discrepancies to the Store Manager/District Manager.
  • Process defectives, recalls, and stock pulls accurately and promptly, ensuring correct labeling and packing lists.
  • Maintain awareness of associate and guest safety, addressing hazardous situations immediately and reporting injuries promptly.
  • Assist in maintaining store records/files in a neat and organized manner.
  • Supervise and delegate tasks to Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders in the absence of the Store Manager.
  • Consistently adhere to Game Stop policies and procedures, including the Associate Handbook and Code of Standards, Ethics & Conduct.
  • Adhere to all opening and closing procedures.
Qualifications
  • Proof of identity and eligibility to legally work in the United States.
  • At least 18 years old.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or accredited bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, merchandising, or related field preferred.
  • At least 6 months of retail management experience preferred.
  • At least 2 years of retail sales, guest service, and/or management experience preferred.
  • Video game knowledge preferred.
