Seasonal Tax Preparer

St. Cloud, MN | Pay: $22 – $25 per hour | Contract (December–mid‑April)
Our client is seeking a Seasonal Tax Preparer / Reviewer to join a professional accounting environment supporting the upcoming tax season. This is an excellent opportunity for a tax professional who enjoys working in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented environment and takes pride in producing accurate, compliant, and timely returns. The selected individual will handle approximately 200 individual and small business tax returns over the course of the season.
The role involves a mix of preparation, review, and client communication, requiring strong attention to detail and confidence in interpreting tax laws. We are looking to onboard the right candidate by December 1st to ensure training and system setup are completed before the peak workload begins.
- Review and prepare individual (1040) and small business returns for accuracy and completeness.
- Verify data entry and supporting documentation for IRS and state compliance.
- Identify missing or inconsistent information and collaborate with team members to resolve issues.
- Communicate directly with clients to clarify data, request additional documents, or confirm return details.
- Stay current on federal and state tax codes, credits, and filing requirements.
- Maintain accurate and confidential client records.
- Mentor and support junior preparers or seasonal staff to uphold quality and efficiency standards.
- 2+ years of tax review experience.
- Experience with Lacerte tax software preferred.
- CPA or EA designation a plus, but not required.

- Contract position running December through late‑April (might be permanent for the right candidate).
- Monday – Friday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM.
- Saturday: 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM (with additional hours during peak filing weeks).
- Full‑time commitment required throughout the season.
