SummaryThe Curriculum Coordinator is responsible for supporting, coaching, and mentoring classroom staff on curriculum and assessment implementation and assisting with classroom staffing, teacher qualifications, and daily program operations, supporting and monitoring effective early childhood education and disabilities services, and ensuring compliance with federal, state, professional and program standards.
Responsibilities- Personnel: Assists in recruitment and selection of qualified classroom staff; coordinates classroom staffing, planning and break schedules; promotes positive staff relations; ensures all required training is completed for classroom staff.
- Systems and Services: Monitors and supports curriculum, education, and disabilities systems and services; develops effective systems for service delivery, documentation, monitoring and reporting; assists in developing problem‑solving strategies for operation and improvement of classroom operations; coordinates, plans and evaluates education and curriculum goals.
- Education Services: Provides leadership, coaching, and mentoring strategies; delivers on‑the‑job guidance and training for classroom staff to ensure effective implementation of The Creative Curriculum, Teaching Strategies GOLD, and Conscious Discipline; reviews ongoing assessment documentation; ensures timely and accurate completion of Teaching Strategies GOLD data collection; collaborates with Early Childhood Coaches to create a positive classroom environment; documents education‑related services in Child Plus;
supports classroom staff in documentation of services and events; assists in supporting and monitoring Child Development Associate (CDA) completion. - Disabilities Services: Partners with the Disability Services Specialist to ensure full inclusion of children with disabilities; reviews education and disability screenings; provides necessary modifications; supports teaching staff in implementing IEP, IFSP, and Professional Plan; collaborates with families; documents disability‑related services in Child Plus; supports transitions for incoming and exiting families.
- Mental Health Services: Partners with the education and disability services team to schedule and support mental health consultation services; promotes social‑emotional skills using Conscious Discipline, The Creative Curriculum, and Teaching Strategies GOLD; collaborates on challenging behaviors; documents mental health‑related services in Child Plus.
- Communication: Utilizes effective communication skills; facilitates problem solving, planning, cooperation, and follow‑through among teaching staff; models effective approaches; encourages positive change through reflective practice.
- Ongoing Training, Coaching, and Mentoring: Determines, conducts and/or coordinates on‑the‑job training and technical assistance; provides group, pre-service, in‑service and post‑service training; offers consistent feedback and modeling; responds to short‑term and long‑term staff training needs; coordinates professional development opportunities.
- Leadership and Support: Ensures quality services are provided by classroom staff; offers continued support, guidance and resources; supports a professional and positive work environment.
