Schedule: Hourly, 5.5 hours per day (8:45 am – 2:15 pm) in a 5th grade classroom. Hours may vary based on program needs.

Reports To: Building Principals, immediate supervisor.
Supervision: None.
Salary: $18.50 per hour (starting salary for new hires).

• High School Diploma or G.E.D. Diploma.
• Highly Qualified status – 60 semester college credits with a GPA of 2.0 or higher, or passing of the Para Exam (request information).
• Preferred:
  Similar job‑related experience, bilingual ability.

The Instructional Para educator assists and encourages students to learn under the direction of a professional, and helps prepare lessons for all subject areas within the classroom, resource center, computer lab, etc.

• Supervise/assist students during instructional and non‑instructional activities.
• Maintain awareness and observe students, assessing behavior and communicating rules, expectations, and consequences.
• Promote School District rules, policies, procedures, mission statement, and core values.
• Assist in developing and maintaining a positive learning environment.
• Adhere to federal, state, and district student data confidentiality and privacy laws.
• Observe, monitor, and communicate student progress to teachers.
• Perform record‑keeping and clerical functions to support the administrator or teacher.
• Other duties as assigned.

The ability to stand and/or walk for long periods; may be exposed to adverse weather.

Frequent tasks include walking, standing, sitting, hearing, talking, and seeing.

Light work: exerting up to 40 pounds occasionally, up to 10 pounds frequently, or negligible force constantly to move objects.
