Position Summary

Schedule & Compensation

Schedule:

FTE hours may vary based on program needs (11/6/25‑12/23/25) –
Salary Range: $49,141 – $90,362 per year.

Reporting & Supervision

Reports To:

Special Education Supervisors/Director, Building Principals.
Supervision:
Works collaboratively with and oversees the work of special education paras.

Essential Duties

Instructional Planning and Preparation:

Demonstrate knowledge of content and pedagogy.
Demonstrate knowledge of students.
Select instructional goals.
Demonstrate knowledge of resources.
Design coherent instruction.
Assess student learning.

Classroom Environment:

Create an environment of respect and rapport.
Establish a culture for learning.
Manage classroom procedures.
Manage student behavior.
Organize physical space.

Instructional Interaction:

Communicate clearly and accurately.
Use questioning and discussion techniques.
Engage students in learning.
Provide feedback to students.
Demonstrate flexibility and responsiveness.

Professional Responsibilities:

Reflect on teaching.
Maintain accurate records.
Communicate with families.
Contribute to the school and district.
Grow and develop professionally.
Show professionalism.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required:

Current special education teaching license issued by the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE).
Preferred:
Previous related experience and multi‑categorical licenses.

Physical Factors

Frequent tasks include walking, standing, sitting, hearing, talking, and seeing.
