St. Cloud Area Family YMCA - Lifeguard

The St. Cloud Area Family YMCA is seeking responsible, attentive, and energetic lifeguards to join our team. Experience is not required; the YMCA will provide certification training for qualified candidates.

• Monitor pool activities to ensure the safety of all swimmers.
• Enforce pool rules and regulations to maintain a safe and enjoyable environment.
• Respond quickly and efficiently to emergency situations, including administering first aid or CPR when necessary.
• Maintain constant surveillance of the pool area, looking out for potential hazards or issues.
• Ensure the pool area is clean, safe, and well-maintained.
• Assist in organizing and running water safety programs or activities.
• Provide exceptional customer service by being approachable and helping members with any pool-related questions.
• Attend training sessions and maintain certifications as required.

• Must be 15 years of age or older.
• All candidates must be able to pass the American Red Cross swim test during the interview process, which includes:
  • Swim 150 yards front crawl, tread water for 2 minutes with hands out of water, then swim 50 yards front crawl (must be done consecutively without stopping)
  • Within 1 minute 40 seconds, jump into shallow end, swim to deep end, retrieve 10‑lb. object from bottom, swim back with object on stomach, place it on pool deck, and exit the pool.
• American Red Cross Lifeguard certification and additional certifications preferred.
