DescriptionThe Y community seeks an energetic, friendly Pilates instructor who is passionate about improving lives through health and fitness. The instructor will educate, teach, and lead dynamic Pilates classes and private sessions in Mat, Reformer, Cadillac, and Chair modalities.

- Assist with educating, teaching, and performing Pilates classes and private sessions under supervision.
- Design safe, effective 1‑hour training programs for individual clients and classes.
- Instruct members in Pilates training principles, procedures, and techniques.
- Teach proper use of all Pilates equipment.
- Promote Pilates training through example and member interaction.
- Maintain a neat, clean studio environment.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Healthy Living Director.
- Provide Pilates instruction, including demo, group apparatus, private, and semi‑private sessions.
- Use proper form and safe methods on a variety of equipment.
- Inspect equipment prior to class for safety and good working order.
- Maintain studio tidiness and inventory standards.
- Provide supervision and reinforcement during training sessions.
- Communicate effectively and demonstrate excellent customer service skills.
- Attend staff meetings and continuing education courses.
- Minimum 18 years of age.
- Experience in fitness instruction required.
- 150–500 hour comprehensive Pilates education (Mat, Reformer, Cadillac, Chair).
- Additional apparatus training to be completed during employment.
- Bachelor’s degree in health and wellness preferred.
- Professional and effective communication skills.
- Ability to work with adults from beginner to advanced levels.
- Physical, visual, and auditory ability to perform essential functions.
- CPR/First Aid Certified within 30 days of hire.
- Demonstrated anatomical knowledge with a focus on safety.
- Experience teaching 5+ participants in an apparatus‑based group class.
- Willingness to adopt new developments in the fitness industry.
- Interpersonal communication skills required.
- Must abide by YMCA policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Requires use of computer for extended periods and phone/smart device communication.
- Occasional lifting or moving up to 50 pounds.
- Vision requirements include close, distance, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
- Must speak and hear well to communicate in one‑to‑one and group settings.
- Strong reasoning and problem‑solving abilities needed.
- Work environment noise usually moderate.
- Requires frequent walking, bending, stooping, pushing, squatting, and extended standing.
- Must remain alert to safety needs and monitor environment.
- Requires sufficient strength, agility, and mobility for supervision across indoor and outdoor locations.
