Description

The Homeschool Program Attendant is responsible for leading and supporting a physical education–based program designed for homeschooled children. This role focuses on promoting physical activity, healthy habits, teamwork, and social development through age-appropriate games, sports, and movement-based activities. The Homeschool Program Attendant creates a safe, positive, and engaging environment where participants can develop physical skills, build self-confidence, and learn the value of cooperation and respect.

  • Plan, lead, and facilitate age-appropriate physical education activities for homeschooled children, including games, sports, and movement-based programming.
  • Promote physical activity, healthy habits, and overall wellness in a fun, engaging, and inclusive environment.
  • Foster social development by encouraging teamwork, cooperation, sportsmanship, and positive peer interactions.
  • Create and maintain a safe, welcoming, and structured program environment in alignment with YMCA policies and procedures.
  • Adapt activities to meet the developmental needs and abilities of participants, ensuring all children feel included and supported.
  • Model positive behavior and reinforce respect, confidence, and self-esteem among participants.
  • Monitor participant behavior and provide guidance to ensure a positive and respectful experience for all.
  • Communicate effectively with parents/guardians and YMCA staff regarding program activities, expectations, and participant progress.
  • Assist with set‑up, clean‑up, and proper use of equipment and facilities.
  • Respond appropriately to incidents or emergencies and complete required documentation as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Current CPR/First Aid/AED Certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.
  • Experience in coaching or playing the sport is highly preferred.
  • Ability to work with children.
  • Solid understating of the rules, techniques, and strategies of the sport being coached and the ability to teach and demonstrate to young athletes.
  • Ability to lead, inspire, and motivate children to develop their skill, improve performance and foster a positive team atmosphere.
  • Recognized by others for sound character and strong moral values and personal ethics.
  • Ability to work as a team member and accomplish tasks with little direct supervision.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends.
