The Department of Health & Human Performance at Utah Tech University in St. George, Utah, invites applications for a full‑time, 9‑month, tenure‑track faculty position in Recreation and Sport Management (RSM) to start Fall Semester 2026. This position directly supports the Bachelor’s degree in Recreation and Sport Management and associated certificates, emphases, and minors through course instruction and collaborative curriculum management. Candidates may also support the online Master’s degree in Sport Management.

Candidates with specialization in analytics and those who complement current faculty expertise are desired. Other responsibilities for the position include support for student learning and success, active participation in university and professional service, and engagement in scholarly and creative activities.   • Teach 24 credits per academic year, usually a 4‑4 course schedule, primarily in‑person. Courses may include sport analytics, sport governance, human resources in RSM, sports and society, legal foundations, fundamentals of RSM, college athletic administration, finance in RSM, and leisure in society.
  • Design curriculum to enhance students experiences reflective of the University’s theme “active learning, active life” utilizing both in‑person and online modalities.
  • Participate in university governance by serving on university, college, and department committees and engage in community and professional discipline service activities.
  • Serve on the graduate admissions committee for the Master’s in Sport Management.
  • Assist with student assessment, hold regular office hours, attend regular department meetings, and vote on department and program issues.
  • Engage in scholarly and creative activities resulting in the sharing of knowledge through teaching, presentations, publications, and other appropriate outlets.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Director, Department Chair, and/or Dean.
  • Doctoral degree in a closely related field, with at least one graduate degree in Recreation and/or Sport Management. ABD candidates will be considered.
  • Evidence of, or potential for, excellence in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels (finalists will be required to demonstrate competence via a teaching demonstration).
  • Ability to communicate clearly with students, staff and colleagues, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to develop collaborative relationships across disciplines and with external sport and leisure organizations.
  • Evidence of developed, or ability to develop, contributions of scholarly and creative activities consistent with graduate faculty status.
  • Online teaching experience and course development preferred.
  • At least three (3) years of practical industry‑specific experience preferred.
  • Experience developing and working with student clubs preferred.
POSITION DETAILS, COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

Full‑time (9‑month) tenure‑track faculty position. Faculty service begins August 2026, with pay and benefits starting July 1, 2026. Annual salary of $68,000‑$72,000 depending on qualifications and experience, with additional compensation available for optional summer/overload teaching.
