Description
Our client is expanding rapidly and looking to add to its growing team. You will be a valuable part of our Low Voltage Division where you will actively participate in leading crews and performing installation, maintenance, repair, and inspection of low voltage projects across several commercial industries in the state of Utah and surrounding Intermountain Region. The basic function of the Foreman is to direct and coordinate field activities of cabling and installation projects, in a manner that meets prescribed company policies, procedures, and meets the profit goals of the company.
This foreman is expected to be a manager, a self-starter and problem solver. They should be able to work independently, seeking advice only when necessary and be able to work without direction.
- Arrives at work on time and ready to work at the job site.
- Makes it understood by all employees that safety is the number one concern, in all phases of work.
- Understands that they are often the voice and face of the company and ensures that the company is always well represented – this includes appearance, conversation, work ethics and cleanliness of the work area.
- Coach, encourage, and train employees to develop them to their full potential.
- Provides clear and concise instructions and information to the technicians that he works with to accomplish the required tasks for the day to ensure the success and profitability of the project.
- Calls the Project Manager by 2 PM to advise of availability of or need for labor the next day and any additional parts and inventory needed to complete the project.
- Has all the tools needed to perform the function of technician and Foreman, as per company policy.
- Uses Progressive Discipline and reports all infractions of company policy to the Project Manager, in writing, and how each issue was handled.
- Interprets and follows specifications, schematics, and job orders. Understands the full scope of work prior to starting any job and effectively conveys that information to subordinates.
- Demonstrate that you can make discretionary decisions when on the job that will improve quality, efficiency, or profitability of the project for the customer and for the company. Essentially, you have the freedom to be flexible and make game time decisions if they don’t have a negative impact on the customer or company. In other words, you don’t have to follow the print to a T.
- Is directly responsible for the performance of the employees working on his crew, this includes subcontractors working under his supervision. He ensures that they work the required time daily and that the jobs are completed with the highest quality of workmanship and in the safest possible environment.
- Analyzes and resolves work problems and/or assists others in solving work problems.
- Ensures that work is performed in accordance with local codes.
- Establishes and maintains a high level of job site performance through effective project management, efficient scheduling, delegation and close coordination of material, equipment, and labor.
- Ensures that all company policies and procedures are maintained and uniformly enforced and that hourly time on a job is entered promptly by everyone on the job.
- Ensures that all inventory transferred from the warehouse or van is applied to the job.
- Ensures that all requests for extra work are forwarded to the office, even when there is no cost change.
- Ensures that job sites are kept neat and clean during the project and are thoroughly cleaned at the end of a project.
- Always maintains a current set of specs and drawings on the job site.
- Receives and checks‑in materials and forewords packing slips, bills of lading and other shipping and receive paperwork promptly. Advises the office immediately of any shortages and clearly notes shortages on the paperwork before signing it.
- Returns unused inventory to the shop promptly and identifies it (labels it) and logs it in, so it can be returned and credited to the job.
- Attends post‑project meetings with the Management Team to evaluate performance and profitability of the job.
