Transportation Engineer

Department: Transportation

Location: St. George, UT

Compensation: $95,000 – $130,000 per year

Comp Time Policy

Hours worked over 40 in a week can be reimbursed as additional pay at an equivalent hourly rate or banked as additional PTO.

As a Transportation Engineer, you will be responsible for a variety of projects, taking ownership from start to finish.

Core Responsibilities
  • Design and analysis of freeways, interstate highways, interchanges, urban and rural roadways, and shared‑use trails
  • Prepare studies, reports,, specifications, and cost estimates for a wide variety of transportation projects
  • Coordinate and work with a team of project managers, design engineers, technicians, and support staff to successfully complete a variety of projects
  • Lead a project team consisting of engineers, designers, and field personnel involved in the design, modification, analysis, and constructability of water systems
  • Coordinate and conduct meetings with project stakeholders
  • Coordinate with office management and other project managers to share resources
  • Assist in proposal preparation including oral presentations; also prepare the scope, schedule, and budget for new projects
  • Interface with clients including state and local agencies
  • Work on challenging assignments that include investigating, troubleshooting, and solving a wide variety of engineering and construction‑related issues
  • Prepare, review, and/or approve proposals, contracts, or cost estimates
  • Negotiate revisions, changes, and additions to contractual agreements with sub‑consultants, and clients
  • Lead efforts to ensure projects are completed satisfactorily, on time, and within budget
  • Coordinate design activities to ensure installation and operations will comply with specifications, codes, and client requirements
  • Prepare reports and studies that present technical information in a clear and concise manner and meet client requirements
  • Perform independent reviews of work performed by others including calculations and drawing preparation
  • Take ownership of projects from start to finish
Qualifications, Skills, and Competencies
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited college or university
  • 5+ years experience with plan preparation procedures and standards
  • 5+ years experience in Transportation
  • Professional Civil Engineering certification (P.E.)
  • Knowledge and experience with Bentley Open Roads Designer, and other applicable software common to the field of transportation engineering
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Willingness to work on projects locally or in workshare with other offices
  • Possess a proven history of meeting project deadlines and budgets
  • Self‑motivated, detail‑oriented professional with strong organizational skills
  • A desire to grow personally and professionally with each project while working in a team environment to create designs and drawings supporting our client’s overall project goal
